Why your whatapp update is failing.

The whole process of updating your whatsapp should be short and simple. If it is taking too long, know something is wrong. The thing could be you need to update it manually. Updating it manually simply means you have to uninstall the previous version, download the update and then install it. You can do this on Google play or any other app store of your choice.

There are many reasons why a manual update is needed;

Outdated android version

If the whatsapp update is not compatible with your android version, the update will automatically fail. All android versions below 4.0 are prone to this problem. There are websites where you can download whatsapp for older android versions but to be on the safe side, purchasing the latest version is the best.

Whatsapp will discontinue support for older versions of android starting year 2020. This include android 2.3(Gingerbread) and below. It will also discontinue the support for iOS7 (Apple) in the same year. If your phone is outdated it may return a “Parse error” message whenever you try to install the app.

Out of memory

If your internal storage is getting low, updating whatsapp directly from Google play can be quite challenging. Google play is very sensitive to low storage. You can opt to manually download the app from sites like apk4fun or APKMonk. The download process is easy and once it’s complete, all you will do is install the app.

If your internal storage is too low, like below 20MB. The installation will fail. You will have to delete some items to free some space. At least 50mb can do.

Low network and restricted background data

Have you switched on background data?  The background data should be on else the updating process will fail. The network connectivity should be strong too. This will speed up the process. If not connected to wifi, make sure your data connection is on and the data bundles are enough to support the whole process.

Inactive Google account

To use Google play, an active Gmail account is needed. If you have a Gmail account connected to your phone, then you are safe. If you lack one, creating a Google account is easy and quick. Visit accounts.google.com to create yours. When you are done, add it to your android phone or use it to login your Gmail app. After syncing your account, you can efficiently use it across all your devices and Google products.

A solution for you

When your whatsapp gets outdated, it will prompt you to download and install the new verson. imediately you open the app you will be met with a download button. if you follow through the process, the update should be successful and quick. if it fails,just do this;

  1. Click the download button

The download button will direct you to google play. In play store you will be provided with two options.  To install the update or to uninstall the previous version.  If you click install, it will start downloading imediately. if the download takes too long, sth could be wrong so chose uninstall instead.
