When some of us heard of quarantines and lock downs, the first thought that rang in our minds was that of soldiers guarding gates in movies like resident evil and world war z. Today its a reality with the Covid 19 forcing us to stay in our homes.

Luckily, i have some 5 science fiction tv series that can help you pass time but leave you inspired at the same time. They maybe not the latest but are worth your free time.

1. The 100

After the is earth is destroyed by deadly radiations, thousands of  humans escape to space to dwell in a space station called the Ark. After 97 years, the council led by Thelonious Jaha decide to send a group of 100 juvenile detainees to test whether the earth is safe for habitation.

The space born youngsters find the earth as beautiful as in their imaginations. But something tough than the radiations awaits them, the grounders! They have to do whatever it takes to survive. Among them are the two heroes and techies behind the 100, Monty and Raven. They dedicate their lives to the ship’s safety and to that of their friends.

2. Colony

Can you imagine an alien invaded earth with all their technology? You don’t have to. you just need to watch colony. This show revolves around a family, the Bowmans, that is greatly affected by the incident which they call the arrival.

Will Bowman is a former FBI agent and a retired Army ranger. He is blackmailed to join the the redhats (the homeland security under the alien’s control ) to fight a resistance group against the aliens arrival. Unknown to him is the fact that Katie his wife has joined the resistance.

3. Extant

What makes this show interesting is not only the science in it but how John and Molly woods, his wife, are able to integrate science into their lives.

John is a robotics engineer who has literary created their son Ethan, a prototype and a humanoid who has become a part of the family. Molly wood on the other hand is an astronaut who is searching for answers after getting expectant mysteriously.

4. Dark Matter

Meet the crew of the Raza, a group of 6 convicts who rule the galaxy. Their journey begins with a quest to find out how they got in space after waking up from their stasis ponds. They are led by Portia with the help of a humanoid named Suki/android. She is simply the ship’s AI but can interact with humans and quickly attend to the problems of both the ship and the crew.

5.Grand tour

The grand tour is more of a reality show created by three famous car journalists, Jeremy clarkson, James May and Richard hammond. They started with their earlier program, Top gear, which was hosted by BBC but later moved to AMC and launched the grand tour.

The three travel around different continents as they do car reviews, timed laps, racing, motoring challenges and studio segments among other activities.
