A business idea is like a seed. It might have the potential to grow into a big beautiful tree but you have to plant it first to make it a reality.
A numerous number of creative people have great ideas but they are held back by competition and fear of the outside world. They don’t know where to start and most importantly are afraid to fail
Every journey starts with a single step
The big businesses that are now dominating markets started somewhere. Facebook, Amazon, Alibaba for example started in a small town in china and had to take around ten years to grow into a stable business.
To actualise your business idea you will have to come up with a starting point or atleast use one that is at your reach. Here am going to share some starting points that can be of great help to you.
a) Start with your friends and family
As an ambitious business man, its possible to feel that an ideal client is the stranger who walks into your office/store to buy a product. Its a good thing but as a start up business that is probably yet to establish a physical adress, using the potential client closest to you is a better option.
You can introduce your products to your friends. If its services like coaching or training, you can have your family be the first to enjoy them at a discounted fee. By so doing, you will build courage as you gain experience. By the time you start selling to strangers you will be good at your job.
b) Create and share your business card
Assuming that you have already named your business and maybe given it a logo. Its time to expand your market. A business card is enough. You don’t have to build a website or use any online platforms for that matter. Unless you intend to sell online.
A business card is more convenient as its an ofline media and more accessible to clients.
c) Give samples and free trials
When you introduce your product to your target market for the first time. They might reject it due to trust issues. To solve this, giving free samples can do the trick. With time they will learn your product is as good as the ones they are used to or even better
d) Use youtube tutorials
For inspiration and learning youtube tuitorials can be of great help. Say you want to sell mango juice. You can first learn how its made then know how it can be easily presented and sold to clients
e) Look for partners
Partners may not be people you team up with to sell the same product as you. They can be well wishers or experienced sellers who are willing to hold your hand and support you with information like;
- Where to get a ready market for your products
- Places to source for raw materials at a lower prices
- How to cope with different challenges in your business
