After family bank released their new prepaid visa cards which are the youth card, student card, multi currency and main card, they recently launched an Online portal where card holders can manage their cards.
The portal is accessible via the prepaid.familybank.co.ke site. Once you visit the site for the first time you will be required to sign up. When you are done, a one time password (OTP) will be sent to you via sms to confirm its you. After that it will be possible to log in using the user name and password you provided.
What is the use of this portal
First, the portal is like customer care service brought near you. You don’t have to got to an agent or the bank to check the balance or get help with other card issues. Second, the portal will help you secure your money in case you lose your card, someone knows your pin and tries to withdraw money and so on.
With the prepaid family bank portal you can
- Lock you card to prevent withdrawal.
- Check balance.
For now that is the much you can do. Maybe they will add more services in the future like where they can integrate the portal with mobile banking providers e.g enable transfer of funds from the card to mpesa and vise versa
