Am not aware of what you use to measure the success of your blog. As for me it’s the engagement am able to give and get from my audience. Traffic is an achievement by itself but what I get from that traffic matters a lot to me. Its the likes, comments, follows, and shares I get from the readers. Mostly when someone shares a post or leaves a genuine comment. It gives me the confidence that a post served its purpose which I assume is what most bloggers want.
Here is what I learned ;
1. Niche matters
Basically, there is nothing like a bad niche but someone who sells watches can’t compare with someone who sells coffee right? The same applies to blogging. There are those topics that will atract traffic within a very short time. Topics like “How to make $100 out of your blog” or “What Trump had to say in his last speach”
So, my dear and fellow bloggers , its not that you are not good writers. Infact your short article could be full of content. Its just the niche you chose has the kind of readers who search the web at most once in a week. This means little traffic.
2. Impression is key
It’s about what brings a reader to your article even before they can tell what is really inside. A good impression depends on the topic and subject you choose for your post. This one’s then determine the keywords, tags and categories you choose.
There are words/terms that will call the attention of any reader. Most of them are those that revolve around this things
- Entertainment
- Money
- News and headlines
- Celebrities
- Creatives I.e Poetry
- Life couching
Disclosure
This website contains affiliate links. If you purchase a product or service via one of those links, I will receive a commission. The links are from online stores I.e AliExpress, Webhosts and other merchant sites. Purchasing products from these links can get you a coupon or discount depending on the promotion but should not affect the overall purchase in any way.
3. Content counts
You could have a neat article with an interesting featured image, no ads and a perfect intro. But until you add quality to your post, those follows, likes and comments will never come your way. Readers need a reason to come back. Any article with standard content will do one or most of this;
- Educate
- Inform
- Inspire or motivate
- Entertain
- Engage
- Evaluate
4. Readers rarely read
It’s very hard to get a reader who reads a post to the end. They are there but very few. It’s easy to tell by how they respond to your article and it’s subject. Immediately they get what they were looking for, they will probably leave a like and go.
To get a reader to want more of your post, you need to spice things up. There are many ways of doing that I.e being authentic, creative, dramatic and others. Whatever floats your boat, the point is to give the reader another reason to keep reading your post apart from the same reason they started reading it.
5. Writing skills come in handy
When I talk of writing skills I mean the ability to play with words. That is know the right words to use in the right way and for the right reasons. It also includes basic skills like good grammar and other stuff like creativity among others.
6. Trust is something
Do you know why some blogs make millions and others just a few dollars? It has a lot to do with trust. When people can trust what you share to be true, they will not only follow your blog, they will also share your posts, leave positive comments and click affiliate links if any.
Thank you for reading. What made yours successful? I would really like to know.
