A better way to market your blog/website

1. Create a Brand

The first thing you need to do, is to set your blog apart from the rest. You will/are competing with many blogs. Most of which want the same success as you. This is to make sure you take home all the points everytime you create good content.

Give it a Name

Every site needs a name but you will not be giving yours any kind of name. A good name matches the content and niche of your blog. It’s even better if the blog’s name is the same with the one in the domain. You will also need an interesting and promising slogan under that name

Logo

To give your site an identity, a label is needed. The logo you create for your site can and should be used as the site’s icon. This one will be visible in browser’s and homescreens when followers add it as a bookmark, app or shortcut. A good logo is memorable.

Use publications

Now that you have a blog with content that can interest readers, it’s time to tell that to the world. But you will not only do that by sharing it on facebook and other social networks. Almost all bloggers are doing exactly that and some of them are heading to failure. Instead, create publications. Things like business cards, brochures and pamphlets to tell the outside about your blog.

You can add excerpts of your blog posts to the publications then let the interested readers visit your blog to view the rest. Its even better if you go an extra mile to explain to them what your blog is about. Also why they should spare their precious time to visit it.

Hi reader!

Now that you have come this far, we would like you to know that you are the most valued part of this blog. We don’t want to lose you.

We would like to provide you with the best content and to do that we will need your feedback. Please feel free to leave a message or comment to tell us how we can improve our blog to suit your preferences.

2. Run in-blog campaigns

SEO experts might encourage you to guest blog. They will also mention google ads and email marketing but you can do more than that. Why not add banners and links inside your blog posts pointing to other posts in your blog? You can also use other ad formats I.e native ads and popunders. By so doing you will be making the best use of the traffic you already have. Just imagine a reader viewing an extra 5 blog posts in your site. It’s quite an achievement right?

3. Turn it into an app

You have done good by getting 1k followers. That’s great. What if your blog can be an app in somebody’s phone. That is Success at another level. And the good news is today there are some web hosts offering to turn your blog into an app if you buy one of their top plans. I know of one that I have used myself. Check here to learn more about the web host.

An app maintains the contact between your blog and it’s followers. It’s also another way to monetize your blog as you can run in app purchases and ads as well.

4. Create a facebook page for your blog

Facebook is still a good choice for any blog that is yet to be indexed by search engines . If you were to search for your site using it’s name on Google, probably you won’t get it in any of the results. When you create a facebook page on day one, you will get it on Google. What facebook does, is it gives your search traffic a way to get to your blog.

Facebook has very affordable plans when it comes to creating ads and running campaigns. You can promote your Page with as low as $1. 5. Turn posts into ebooks

Compile your blog posts into one e-book then sell it or offer give it as a freebie. If it has links in it, they will bring back all the readers to your blog. The e-books will also serve as samples to your content. Its one good way to market your blog and make several dollars too.

6. Use content sharing platforms

Offer your blog/content to sites like reddit and Quora to be read and rated. I can’t guarantee this one will give you the results you expect but its worth a try. You also need to be clever when using such sites. Don’t just share links and site addresses. Make sure you add an excerpt. If you get readers who are really into your writing, then you won’t be leaving there empty handed.

7. Pay writers

If you know of a talented blogger who gets at least 100 organic views a day why not pay them to write a review of your site. Such a writer will be affordable yet deliver results. It’s better than relying on popular but crowded sites for traffic. They can also publish ads of your blog in their content. If their site is neat (of which you should expect ) the ads should deliver.

8. Give rewards

Most people love free things. We also like to be rewarded for our efforts. rewarding your loyal visitors with free e-books, Coupons, cakes or T-shirts with your blog name is a great Idea. It will not only keep your followers, it will also be a way to spread the word about your site.

9. Run an affiliate program for your blog

This one is for advanced sites (with a standard content and a team behind it ) and serious bloggers. If you intend to create a 6 figure business out of your blog, running an affiliate program can be one way to help you do that. To run an affiliate program, you don’t even need to use a third party. It’s possible to do it directly on your site using a Plugin. If your blog is build on WordPress,  there are free plugins like Affiliates you can use.
