Online campaigns are promotions done in the internet to market certain products. The aim can be to create product awareness , increase sales or other marketing purposes. A point to note is “ads are not campaigns” but a part of a campaign.
Getting started;
Set goals
Before you start any campaign, you need to set goals. If you are doing them for your blog, you could be aiming an extra 1k followers. If it’s an online store, you could be aiming to create awareness of a product you just introduced. If it’s for your bakery, your intention could be to sell more cakes.
Have a budget
The goals you set might affect your budget and vise versa but it should not exceed your limits. It is also good if what you input is what you get from the campaign. To make payments, here you might need a credit card or PayPal account because you are doing online campaigns.
Set a duration
Campaigns can be seasonal and that makes them even better and more reliable. Like during black Fridays and festive seasons. you could choose to run campaigns in such times for certain reasons. A duration can be a day, days, weeks, months or an year. It all depends with your goals and budget.
Have a target market
Depending on what you are promoting, you need to zero down to a specific market/niche. You can base it on Age, Gender or region. Sometimes to know the right market you will need to do research. It’s also okay to go with what works for you. Let’s say you noticed most of your clients come from India or most are women. So your campaign will target that specific region.
Choose a platform/network
Though online is the main platform, you need to choose a specific one. It can be email, social media or web. You can also choose an Ad Network like Google Ads or facebook. If you are using an ad network or email marketing platform like mail chimp, you might need to create an account with them to use their services.
It is also okay if you choose your own way of running campaigns. You can do it in your blog, page, instagram or any of social your media accounts.
Create a marketing kit
To start an online campaign you need a marketing kit. This are all the tools you will use to promote your products and services. Below are some:
Banners
A banner is a type of an ad with some call to action content in it. This can be images, links, text or call to action buttons. Banners can be static or dynamic( Content changes with a span of time). To create a banner you can use a Graphics design app/software.
Links
Most links are plain texts that lead you to another section of a site or to another website. They can be used to take a visitor to a page that prompts them to buy a product, subscribe to a service or learn more about something. Links can be easily created using an affiliate marketing program or any link generator. It is also possible to create them yourself mostly if they are just short urls connecting to certain webpages or content delivery networks(CDN)
Call to action buttons
An example of a call to action button is “Buy Now!” They are used to prompt a viewer to take a certain action. When used well they can generate sales.
Product images
This is an image or representation of what is being promoted. It can be a small 350×200 pixels image or a cover image. If the promotion Is about cameras, the product images will be a camera.
Landing page
A landing page is a kind of a web page used to promote a product. For example, if you are selling Huawei phones, you can decide to create a landing page for Huawei Y7. In the landing page you can add the product image on top then followed by features, price, a few testimonials/reviews and a call to action button at the end.
Videos
Video ads/promotional videos are another way of marketing products and services. The visuals can be made of real people and real products or just graphical representations and animations. Today most companies are opting for animations and cartoons as they can be easily manipulated to share information in a way that is understandable to the viewer.
Choosing colours and backgrounds
Last and very important, you need to choose the colours you will be using wisely. There are those colours that have been proven to work in most promotions. Colours like, red, orange, Yellow, black and sometimes green.
There might be many reasons why they do but looking at most of them, they are the kind of colours that give a warm and compelling feeling. They can give a potential client the passion and confidence to buy a product. Which is the feeling most advertisers want to give their viewers to maximize conversations.
